5 Questions with High Society

Saturday, 10 January 2026

A few weeks ago we chatted with High Society about the plans they have for 2026 and what got them into music, this is what they said...

1. What made you want to get into music?
We all got into music as kids/ teenagers and it was just something that always felt right for us, it never really seemed like a choice, it was more a calling just this thing that we were obsessed with that was the best thing in the world, there was just nothing else we ever wanted to do from that point.

2. What are your plans for 2026?
We've got a lot of new music on the way for 2026, as well as gigging and expanding our horizons, this is the start of a new chapter for High Society and a realisation of what the project has always meant to be, we're really excited for what the year ahead holds, watch this space!

3.  What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight of our career so far was our headline show that we put on this September just gone. It was our first headline show as a 3 piece and we played some new songs and old alike and had people singing every word to songs of ours like "stray" which was such a special feeling I will never forget. The energy was just insane we had mosh pits from the first song in, we also had bands that we are friends with supporting so it was just a real special night all around.

4. Who are your inspirations music wise?
A lot of the lyrics and vibe of our newer music was inspired by bands like "basement" and "Citizen", as well as bands like "microwave" when our singer and guitarist Danny first heard "covet" by Basement it was a real eye opening moment and it really sparked off the beginning of our sound. Our drummer Cam is really into bands like "sweet pill" and "Delta sleep" he really loves anything to do with interesting melodies, time signatures and interesting chord progressions. our Bass player Max loves bands like "toe" which share some of the same kinds of chord voicings and melodies as what cam likes, so there's definitely a running theme through all of our influences that we all tend to gravitate towards stuff a little out of the ordinary, anything with an interesting melody or chord sequence that sounds pretty, we're always melody first, it has to still work and be a good song.

5. Tell us, who is your favourite upcoming  band/artist you hope others check out.
We all listen to quite different bands so we all had different answers, for Cam it'd be “Sweet Pill”, for Danny it'd be “Static Dress” and for Max it would have to be “Mary in the Junkyard”.
