In 2023 I decided to for my dissertation to launch The Indie Files which would be a place which would be focused on promoting the North East Music Industry. I didn't know how I was going to do it but I knew I was going to try and put all of my time and effort into creating this.
I interviewed some people who I never thought I would interview such as L Devine and that all happened because I messaged someone on Instagram who gave me a contact and I managed to get a response. I reviewed Coastal Crawl where I spent the whole day going to the gigs, reviewing them and taking the photos for the post.
I spent over 10 hours a day on that website creating it from 9am in the morning till 10pm at night. I was counting the words to make sure I could get to 10,000 words and on top of that finishing my university assignments and then looking for a job (I'm surprised I made it through).
I knew that I wanted to celebrate The Indie Files and I wanted to really share it on Odd Girl Out as it was one of my proudest pieces of work that I've ever done, and that is what I did. From last Summer till now I posted weekly one post from The Indie Files to share the amazing people I managed to interview, and from that I am super super proud and happy.
I got a 2:1 for my Degree, got a dream job and...shared one of my favourite pieces of work that I've ever done. Thanks 2024 for that (and yep...burnt myself out to the ground but we won't mention that).
I can't believe that's the end of The Indie Files, but...more to come and Odd Girl Out will forever, stay.

Love, Chloe
