5 Questions with Tough Cookie

Saturday, 25 July 2026

We sat down with Tough Cookie a couple of weeks ago to discuss the plans they have for the future and why they decided to get into music, this is what they said...

1. What made you want to get into music?
Jack Black.

2. What are your plans for the rest of 2026?
We spent the first half of it writing and recording our upcoming EP from our dingy basement studio, nestled under a beautiful church in Dalston. We’ll be releasing the music throughout the year and hopefully be playing loads of shows.

3.  What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Probably our headline show at Oslo in Hackney. It was our first real chance to play our mixtape to a room full of our own fans, family and friends. It was so special to get that shared experience with everyone right round the corner from our own homes. It was a perfect way to end 2025 before going away to write our first EP.

4. Who are your inspirations music wise?
Between us we have so many individual inspirations, but collectively some of the main names we always come to would be Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, sometimes Smashing Pumpkins. August takes a lot of lyrical inspiration from the way Patti Smith conducts her words.

5. Tell us, who is your favourite upcoming  band/artist you hope others check out.

There’s so many sick bands right now that we’ve either gone to see or played a show with. We really love a band called Thistle, not sure if there’s many others who sound like them right now. They really bring this raw, early naughties east coast energy that has been missing for a while.
