A few weeks ago I sat down with Earth Farm to discuss what the rest of 2026 had in store for them, and this is what they said...
1. What made you want to get into music?
Well, apart from the obvious answers like my parents and listening to punk rock when I was younger, I had a brief stint as a DJ... I started a lot of 'dance' songs but could never finish them. When Covid hit, I learned to play guitar and found myself being able to put songs together and actually finish them (albeit very simple ones). So from that point on, I had a lot of unfinished song rage/unreleased teen angst I had to get out of me.
2. What are your plans for the rest of 2026?
We've just recorded a new single last weekend which we're all really happy with. We've introduced new sounds and instruments, so something quite different compared to our past work. We're going to see how that goes...
3. What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I would say the highlight of our career so far was being played on BBC 6 Music by Emily Pilbeam. That was a special moment because she played our song 'Strung Over', which was one of the first songs we started playing together as a band back in 2022. We abandoned it for a few years and then went back to record it at the start of 2026.
4. Who are your inspirations music wise?
When we first started, I didn't do streaming, so I was mainly just listening to records... Bands like Modest Mouse, Pavement, Built to Spill, The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr, mostly. These days I am (somewhat) more up to date, and there's so much cool music around at the moment. I find myself listening to Wednesday, MJ Lenderman, This Is Lorelei, Ratboys and Kurt Vile a lot, as well as some OGs like Sheryl Crow, Drive-By Truckers and Lucinda Williams.
5. Tell us, who is your favourite upcoming band/artist you hope others check out.
Honourable mentions to Loveable Wholes, Puddle Jumping, Spider Noises, Groundbird, Pet Rock, Stannington.
