June 9th 2026 Take That came to Sunderland with The Circus Tour which first launched in 2009. Now I never attended the first round of the tour back in 2009 due to being 9 years old, so I was going into this not knowing what to expect.
Belinda Carlise started the evening off at the Stadium of Light singing the hit 'Heaven is a place on Earth' which everyone knew the words too (even this 25 year old). The Script then came onto stage at 7:30pm with hits such as 'Hall of Fame' and 'Superheros' and my god it was amazing. The whole crowd knew the words to the Script and Danny, the frontman of the band, got one of the audience members phone to speak to her ex-boyfriend to sing to him (such a hightlight!!!).
Then...Take That came on. What show. We had the elephant, the fireworks, the clown makeup tutorial from the band that needs a bit fixing but hey ho. Take That are a British staple and go over tons of generations through popular songs that every person knows. We have grandmothers, aunties, mams, daughters, best friends singing together, tons of pink cowboy hats around the stands and everyone chatting to each other as if this band brought everyone together.
Watching everyone sing 'Never Forget' throwing hands up in the air, to then seeing all of the phone lights around the stadium at the end of the show with the fireworks, was an experience that I am glad I got to see.
This was my second Take That show, and I can't wait for more.
