One Month Apart are an Indie band based in Sunderland. They are made up of Freya (Lead Singer),
Emma (Bass), Brandon (Lead Guitar), George (Rhythm Guitar, Synth, Backup Vocals), Alfie (Drums)
What inspired you all to get into music?
Freya - I’ve always loved music and originally started in theatre but it got added as a lesson in my school in year 9 and an old friend of mine asked me to sing for the band he made and now I’m here!
Emma - Going to live gigs inspired me to pick up the guitar as I’ve always loved being around music.
Brandon - My dad got me a guitar when I was in Year 3 but I didn’t really play it until about Year 7. I realised that being a full time musician was possible when I first heard Sam Fender back in 2019.
George - My friend wanted to learn guitar and that then inspired me to start as well.
Alfie - I decided to become a weirdo in primary school by playing drums and stuck with it
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Freya - Do as many gigs as we can and get some music on streaming platforms.
Emma - Release our ep and play some amazing gigs.
Brandon - Release our EP, do our first headline show, take over the world.
George - Record & release EP, create more originals and play more gigs.
Alfie - GIGS GIGS GIGS.
What has been the highlight of your career in music so far?
Freya - Finally being in a studio and recording one of our originals feels like a massive achievement, especially knowing we recorded it with Sam Fender’s producer but also the fact that crowds at our gigs are starting to sing along to original songs.
Emma - Recording one of our originals with Sam Fenders producer.
Brandon - Recording our first single with Sam Fender’s producer (Thom Lewis/Bramwell Bronte).
George - Recording with Sam Fenders producer and knowing I’m going to be playing the same stage as my favourite band.
Alfie - Definitely the peacock it was absolutely class.
Who do you turn to for music inspiration?
Freya - I have a lot of different inspirations when it comes to music in all honesty. Because of my theatre background I tend to sing in that style depending on the song, however I love artists like Beabadoobee and Nieve Ella because they’re such strong female vocalists in indie rock bands which isn’t common.
Emma - I’ve always loved Blu DeTiger as her basslines are unique to most of the other stuff you hear , I also take big inspiration from Radiohead.
Brandon - Specifically for guitar, The 1975 because their guitar lines have just always been so memorable and catchy. If it gets stuck in your head, it’s good. And also many many Midwest emo bands such as Foxing, Movements, Modern Baseball, Title Fight, etc.
George - Usually the backseat lovers because I love all the different aspects in their songs from lyrics & melody to the incredible structure and dynamics. But with the majority of indie and midwest emo bands I listen to, I can find inspiration from.
Alfie - Either mates or our band because we all know what we’re on about.
