A few weeks ago we sat down with Slate Label to discuss what got them into music and their favourite artists. This is what they said...
1. What made you want to get into music?
Getting into music was a weird one for us, some of us had musical parents and some just really enjoyed learning it in school because it seemed really cool to do the same as the people we loved to listen to. We then came together in school, besides Adam, who Dan met in college, and formed the band.
2. What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We’ve not announced it yet but we have a single (maybe two depending on how we go) on the way. We’ve got the Road to Hardwick on 9th May, and hopefully the other rounds too, and then later in the year I think we’re looking at doing another headliner. All in the planning stages still though!
3. What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Our highlight as a band is probably between two. Our headline in March was really cool, but winning a battle of the bands for Roulette Fest was also really great. Hopefully we’re going onwards and upwards though!!
4. Who are your inspirations music wise?
Each of us come from different inspirations and preferred bands. For me personally I love Sam Fender, Fontaines DC and Wunderhorse. Some of the others love the same, but then Adam loves Queens of the Stone Age, Dan loves the Foo Fighters and then we have blues and jazz in the mix. Then our music all sort of brings all of this together.
5. Tell us, who is your favourite upcoming band/artist you hope others check out.
We really like a good few local bands. There are a good few bands we’ve played with who have been great - too many to name! For me personally, Buses and Critch are really exciting bands. Can’t wait to see what comes next for them!
