Top North East Artists to Look Out For

The North East is becoming the place to be for up and coming musicians, so here is a list of some upcoming independent North East artists who are performing at local festivals this year and gaining more popularity with their music.

Finn Forster is a 27-year-old independent musician who comes from Middlesborough. He is influenced by Pete Doherty and Palo Nutini, and his vocal range is memorable and compelling. The artist is performing at Leazes Park supporting Rag 'N' Bone Man and has recently released his single 'Stay Right Til The End' which has had support from local North East radio stations.

Lizzie Esau is a 25-year-old musician from Newcastle. She is in a band with Alex Baker who plays drums, Joe Bennison who plays bass and Shaun Chipp who plays guitar. Her music varies from alternative pop to rock but with also blurring the lines of different genres. She has recently been in Dork magazine and has released anew single 'WAY TOO LATE'.

Lauren Amour is a songwriter and rising musician from Newcastle upon Tyne. Lauren got into music at a young age and has since been awarded the young songwriter of the North East as a teenager and performed at South Tyneside Festival in 2023 supporting The Vamps. She has also gone on to write songs for multiple different musicians.

Tom A Smith is a 19-year-old singer from Sunderland who played his first gig at just eight years old at Glastonbury. He has also played with Sam Fender and Catfish & The Bottlemen and had support from Elton John who said "I think he is going to be a big star". He also was one of the headline acts for Coastal Crawl and has his tour starting on the 6th of May 2024 at Glasgow King Tuts.
