Our weekly throwback to The Indie Files is with Robyn Walker where we discuss all things mental health earlier this year. This is what she said...
Robyn Walker who is a musician in the band BigFatBig from Sunderland found that being an independent artist is an outlet for her to protect her mental health. "Luckily, I never got into music to make money. Having an outlet is essential for me to not lose my mind. The UK’s political, economic, and societal landscape is just unbearable at the minute - I can’t remember a time in my life it’s ever felt this bleak. The cons are the same as they’ve always been: we’re skint, knackered, worked to the bone, and having to shout louder than ever to be heard."
Robyn's one piece of advice is to build your own support network. "Build and use your community. We’re all human and most of us are finding things difficult in our own ways, getting a new perspective on something can change or unlock something in you that’s been missing."
