This week our throwback to The Indie Files is our interview with Natalie Greener to discuss her journey into music PR and this is what she said..
Working in music PR is Natalie Greener, who works for Liberty Music PR and runs her own music blog Tits Upon Tyne on the side.
Natalie talks about the lack of funding that is deep rooted in the North East music industry. "It lacks funding, equity ,and opportunity. Compared to London and the south, the north up until recently had minimal funding and opportunities- the little amount that is available isn’t accessible for a large sum of locals due to monopolisation, discrimination ,and classism. "
In the music scene as a whole Natalie gets patronised and objectified on a reoccurrence. "Every day I’m at work. Ageism comes into play frequently - and the drunk general public are the worst to deal with. I get patronised and objectified on a daily to weekly basis."
Natalie then mentions if you are wanting to work in the music industry in PR or running your own website to just go ahead and do it. " Just do it. Genuinely, I can’t stress enough the importance of having a portfolio that nurtures the passion and creative side to you. The industry is tough, but it’s not impossible."
