This week we sat down with Lags Band to discuss what they have planned for the rest of 2026 and why they decided to get into music, this is what they said...
1. What made you want to get into music?
Jack: I Started guitar lessons in school cause my cousin was doing them so I didn't want to be left out haha.
Liam: I started playing guitar for the first time in Danny’s front garden. Hooked from the get go.
Bob: Initially listening to old CD’s with my dad in the car then wanting to get involved with playing instruments as our school had a music room which nobody used and we wanted somewhere we could hang around on our dinner.
Dan: There was always a guitar knocking around the house, it was meant for my brother but I ended up getting involved later on. But I played the flute from about the age of 7 till 15 then I picked the guitar up properly.
2. What are your plans for 2026?
Jack: Snap necks and cash cheques.
Liam: The revival of Rock n Roll.
Bob:Don’t stop rockin'.
Dan: Release more music, play some big gigs, sell out our show at the end of year and hopefully gain a lot new fans.
3. What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Jack: Playing the O2 academy big room supporting the cheap thrills.
Liam: selling out our district show.
Bob: Travelling to Pilton and performing for Michael Eavis. Both the trip and the show itself were the most fun I've had with the band.
Dan: Selling out our last show in District and playing down in Glastonbury in front of Michael Eavis.
4. Who are your inspirations music wise?
Jack: the Beatles, stone roses, arctic monkeys, Peter hook, Bernard Edwards.
Liam: John Squire is one of my biggest influences in terms of guitar. But the Beatles cemented my interest in music.
Bob: Pink Floyd definitely peaked my interest musically. Over the years i’d say 60s/70s British rock is the main foundation of what I like to bring to the party and enjoy playing most but i’m probably listening to The Beatles, The Strokes & Arctic Monkeys on a daily basis so they’re heavily influencing my style more than anything.
Dan: Biggest inspirations are Oasis, The Beatles, The Stone Roses and The La’s.
5. Tell us, who is your favourite upcoming band/artist you hope others check out.
Jack: Westside Cowboy.
Liam: The Cheap Thrills.
Bob: The Lags
