Last week we sat down with up-and-coming musician Jack Samuel all about his plans for the future and what got him into music, this is what he said...
1. What got you into music?
My dad is a musician, so I always grew up around it and was encouraged to sing/play an instrument from early on! I don't really remember not having it in my life. I think my Dad bought me my first guitar when I was around 8 years old.
2. What are your plans for the rest of this year?
I am gigging a lot at the moment and plan to continue to do so for the rest of this year! I always post where I am each week on Instagram so hopefully people will come! I am working with a producer at the moment and we are trying to bring my songs to life in an organic way also.
3. What has been a highlight of your career?
I was in a band with my best friends for a long time and we had the opportunity to play at the 02 Islington as the main support for bands like toploader and republica. Those gigs were you are standing on the stage and you are looking out at the crowd and you are with your best mates was a beautiful experience.
4. Who has been your music inspiration?
Growing up I was surrounded by a lot of 70s/80s music! I listened to the Beatles, Bowie, Billy Joel and many more. However, I also find myself listening to soft blues music, things like John Mayer and also I listen to mainstream pop/rock - like Sam Fender.
5. Which musician/band would you recommend people to listen too?
Maya Deliah has just released their debut album which people need to listen too! A girl band named Melt based in Nashville are quite cool too! Also, a guy called Jack Samuel too might be good to listen too?
