REVIEW: Short n Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter

Monday 23 September 2024

After opening for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour and dropping two incredibly catchy and fun singles, Espresso and Please Please Please, with Espresso even winning Song of The Year at this year’s VMA’s, Sabrina Carpenter has definitely become one of my favourite pop singers!

Her latest summer release, Short n’ Sweet, truly lives up to its name, a quick but addictive collection of songs that perfectly blend her signature pop sound with a personal edge. Carpenter curates the perfect playful, flirty and fun vibe throughout this whole album.

The influences from Jack Antonoff sprinkled throughout this album 100% enhance the breezy summery vibe. With themes that touch on Carpenter’s past and present relationships, Short n’ Sweet, overall is a great collection of lighthearted, flirty songs that also hold an emotional connection.

Standout tracks for me are definitely Taste, Don’t Smile and Dumb and Poetic. The soft piano melodies and electronic keyboard sounds on Don’t Smile make this a song I can’t stop replaying!
