Hello!! So we’re a band from Newcastle who formed when we were 15 in our drummer Adam’s garage under a different name. We’ve been kicking around the local music scene for a few years and over the past year and a half we’ve ventured out to other cities across the UK supporting people like The Libertines, Andrew Cushin and Junodream. We’ve grown a lot as musicians and as a band to get to where we are now.
2. What made you want to get into music?
It’s definitely different for all of us, but overall we definitely just looked at bands we liked and wanted to do what they were doing; not their sound or anything at the time, we just thought there was nothing cooler than being able to play an instrument to people on a stage.
3. What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We’re releasing our album on 14th June, and that essentially sets us up for what’s to come. We’ve got a massive show at The Grove in Newcastle on 22nd June which is to showcase the album, so we’re really excited for that. We’re playing some festivals in the summer (namely Hardwick and Lindisfarne) and then later in the year we’re planning some shows in different parts of the country. We want to take our album all over the shop. It’s the year of Bear Park the album.
4. What has been the highlight of your career so far?
That’s a tough one, we’ve been fortunate enough to have had some pretty cool things happen to us so far. We always talk about how supporting The Libertines was out of this world, especially the gig in Leeds. There was about 600 people packed into the room and all you could see was a sea of heads. It was amazing and we were thankfully well received.
5. Who are your inspirations music-wise?
We have so many, but to name a few who’ve really had an influence on us we’d say Radiohead, Hockey Dad, Wallows, Flyte and Sam Fender. We always change up who we’re inspired by naturally, but we always see ourselves subconsciously gravitating back to these artists all the time.
6. And, tell us...who is your favourite upcoming NE band/artist you hope others check out?
There’s a band called Camel Island who are four lads from South Shields. They’re very good to watch and they really entertain with their songs which are catchy and interesting to listen to. They make great music so anyone who likes that (which everyone does) should go and listen to them or catch them live.
